Kathleen Marvin, Career Development Coach

I’m a career coach who can support you in your professional and personal development. Because every client is unique, I will create a custom coaching program to fit you so you can be more successful and satisfied in your work. I love coaching managers, executives, and technical people from different cultures (including American!) on leadership, communication, authenticity, and managing through influence.
I understand your challenges and aspirations because I was a manager and director at Autodesk, Claris, Adobe Systems, and Sun Microsystems in Development, Marketing, and Sales Operations. I’ve also coached many non-profit Executive Directors and CEOs.
I love the diversity here in the Silicon Valley where we have workers from all over the world trying to understand each other and get along together. I’ve lived in Spain, Brazil, France, Italy and Switzerland, and worked closely with Asia Pacific. I’ve coached people at all levels from Russia, China, Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Scotland, France, Italy, Mexico, and of course the U.S., and managed people from Europe and Asia.
I have a B.A. in psychology from Antioch University, an M.A. in Organizational Psychology from JFK University, and am a Certified Professional Coach through New Ventures West, which is certified by the International Coaching Federation.

"Kathleen has a unique combination of analytical and intuitive abilities that give her special insights that most people are incapable of discerning. She uses a well-defined process that gives a client comfort. But she allows the process to be as fluid as necessary to suit the client's needs. She is also an incredible listener who goes beyond just hearing the words to really
understanding the intent behind them. Kathleen has been immensely valuable in helping me figure out how to balance professional and personal goals. Her ability to read between the lines helped me gain clarity when I was too close to a situation". Theresa Lina Stevens President, Lina Group, Inc. |
"I felt deadlocked and was considering drastic career changes. I was skeptical that coaching would benefit me. I was amazed at the insightful questions Kathleen asked and how easy it was to talk to her. She helped me to see how to make small, practical changes to focus my career. Her real-world management experience helped me better understand my situation. Feeling more confident, I put my career on the right track".
Kris Hahn, CEO Telegraph Hill Consulting "Kathleen was my coach through a nonprofit leaders institute. She is a joy to work with---funny, no-nonsense and really gets to the root of the issue. Her expertise is amazing as she helped me navigate through conflict resolution, organizational structure, strategic planning versus day to day operations and other items I worked on. I highly recommend working with Kathleen if you are in a leadership position and want coaching". Jill Mitsch, Executive Director, JW House |
